DMK supremo and former Tamil Nadu M Karunanidhi was discharged from a private hospital in Chennai after a week-long treatment for breathing difficulty on Friday.
The 93-year-old DMK leader was admitted to the hospital last week after he complained difficulty in breathing. Doctors had detected infection in throat and lung.
Executive director of Kauvery Hospital Dr. S Aravindan said that a course of antibiotics for the DMK leader has been completed. “He has recovered well from breathing difficult due to throat and lung infection,” said the doctor.
The doctor added that Karunanidhi was hospitalised on the December 15 night. Tracheostomy was prescribed to optimise breathing.
Dr Aravindanadded that the doctors have advised him complete rest and the leader would need a tracheostomy tube for a few more weeks.
