Kulbhushan Jadhav has filed mercy petition, claims Pakistan

In an effort to prove its point in Kulbhushan Jadhav’s case, Pakistan is now using a new strategy wherein it has claimed that Kulbhushan Jadhav has filed a mercy petition with the Pakistan Army Chief General Qamar Javed Bajwa. Pakistan’s claims that Jadhav filed a mercy petition to COAS ‘seeking forgiveness for his espionage, terrorist and subversive activities’. Experts said that this is a new trick by Pakistan since it has already received a setback in the case in the International Court of Justice (ICJ). With this new trick, Pakistan is making yet another attempt to forcefully make a criminal out of Kulbhushan Jadhav.

The press release issued by Pakistan reads, “In his plea, Commander Jadhav has admitted his involvement in espionage, subversive and terrorist activities in Pakistan and expressed remorse at the resultant loss of innocent lives and extensive damage to property due to his actions. Seeking forgiveness for his actions, he has requested the Chief of Army Staff to spare his life on compassionate grounds.” However, experts said that this is just a new trick being used by Pakistan, which will not have any impact on the proceedings in ICJ.
