Mamta Banerjee to participate in Congress called opposition unity meet

West Bengal Chief Minister Mamta Banerjee may join hands with Congress and participate in the opposition party’s show of unity against Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s demonetization move scheduled on Tuesday.


The meet has been called by Congress president Sonia Gandhi. According to Congress leaders the meet will be carried out in a neutral venue.

Political experts believe the move has been initiated by the Congress president to unite the opposition parties against Modi as 50 days deadline is closing by.

JD (U) senior leader Sharad Yadav will be representing the party.

“Nitish Kumar our party president has always tried to strengthen anti-BJP alliance, any effort to strengthen opposition is a welcome move. Our party has extended full support to the move,” JD (U) spokesman K C Tyagi said.

While, there is no confirmation of any representation from Samajwadi Party, BSP and NCP. However if leaders of the NCP party are to believed a last moment call can be made by the party president Sharad Pawar.
