Most parents want their children to be an achiever in life and to make that happen, they are willing to make great sacrifices and work tirelessly for their entire lives. Nil Battey Sannata is one such movie that captures the aspirations of Chanda (Swara Bhaskar) whose only wish and mission in life is to see her daughter Apu (Ria Shukla) become successful. Chanda works as a bai (maid), but she wants her daughter Apu to become educated and move up in life. However, Apu is too young and naive to understand the grand plans of her mother, so she does not care much about her studies or her future. But Chanda does not give up that easily and she has a unique plan to nudge her daughter on the right track.

Nil Battey Sannata comes as a refreshing change in the age of masala movies, where vulgarity, violence, and buffoonery have become the order of the day. Nil Battey Sannata will unravel the pains and pleasures of a financially constrained world, where pursuing dreams and achieving them requires great courage and conviction. The movie might bring tears to your eyes, yet it will also put a smile on your face and make you salute the indomitable spirit in humans to grow and evolve, no matter how bad the circumstances might be. The movie also has plenty of fun moments such as the argument that “doctor ka beta doctor toh bai ke beti bai“; Chanda’s reincarnation as a student; and the war against trigonometry.

Even when the movie may appear to move slowly at times, it will not fail to delight you with its simplicity and innocence. You will also be enthralled with riveting performances by Swara Bhaskar, Ria Shukla and Pankaj Tripathi. Nil Battey Sannata is a must watch, especially with your family and kids. It’s a rare gem that will surprise and amaze you.
