Sometimes, life takes away from us something that was most dear to us. Such events leave us in extreme pain and force us to find a new meaning to life that would possibly explain our loss. In specific cases, it also strengthens our resolve to bring to justice the people who may have been responsible for our loss. TE3N is based on a similar story, which follows the painful journey of John Biswas (Amitabh Bachchan) who has been devastated by the kidnapping of her young granddaughter Angela Roy.

The pain, suffering and feeling of helplessness are quite unimaginable since even after eight years, the culprit has not been found. However, John refuses to give up on his quest to get justice for her granddaughter even when others around him seem to have lost all hopes. Martin Das (Nawazuddin) is one such person who was earlier a policeman handling the kidnapping case, but had later become a padre, seeking redemption.

As fate would have it, a similar case of kidnapping takes place after almost eight years. It brings the focus back on the kidnapping case of John’s granddaughter and provides an opportunity to bring the culprit to justice. John teams up with Martin to find the missing girl and resolves that this time he will not stop at anything before the culprit is found. What ensues is a thrilling ‘whodunit’, one that will keep you constantly on the edge of your seat.

The storyline has been cleverly executed so that the audience doesn’t get even a whiff of the climax till the end. On the surface, everything has been kept simple, for example, there are no flying cars or special powers, but deep down, the story carries the acute psychosis of a kidnapper and the dogged determination of a man trying to get justice. Amitabh has once again proven that age is no bar for a good actor. He continues to amaze the audience with his mannerisms, as he appears to have perfected the role of a senior citizen.

If you like whodunits, then TE3N is a must watch. We bet you won’t be able to unravel the mystery till the end.
