Abhay Deol has always been associated with ‘hatke’ movies and in that sense Nanu Ki Jaanu is yet another interesting piece of entertainment. Being last seen in Happy Bhag Jayegi, which was hugely appreciated by the audience, Abhay Deol is making an appearance on the big screen after a considerable amount of time. This is a welcome development for his fans, as he has several other films lined up for release this year.

So, what’s special about Nanu Ki Jaanu? Well, first things first the movie is a hilarious take on how the land mafia functions. But, that’s not all. The thug life plot intertwines with a horror story, something that makes the movie all the more interesting. The story catches up on the life of Nanu (Abhay Deol), who is a cunning and brash land mafia agent. He and his goons work by first taking a property on rent and then acquiring full control of that property. Nanu is quite successful at his land mafia business, but things change when he meets a ghost (Patralekhaa) in a house that he is planning to usurp. The ghost has mysteriously fallen in love with Nanu, which brings about significant changes in Nanu’s personal and professional life.

Nanu Ki Jaanu scores high on funny dialogues and comic plots. Some of these appear to be a bit extravagant, but overall they do not disappoint. There seems to be a bit of cliché in Abhay Deol’s role as a thug, but the hilarious and horror parts of the movie help alleviate that feeling. The story is unique and stimulating, even though there may be some loose ends. The story also has an interesting secret, which is revealed towards the end of the movie.

Nanu Ki Jaanu is not something that you would care to miss, but it does have its exciting moments. If you like the special stories associated with Abhay Deol, you can certainly watch this one.
