The scheme aims to foster the IT/ITes ecosystem in North East India
30th October 2020: The North East BPO Promotion Scheme (NEBPS) by the Government of India envisages to set up BPO/ITES operations in cities of North Eastern States to create employment opportunities for local youths. As a part of this initiative, S10 Healthcare Solutions Pvt. Ltd, a leading healthcare services company has setup a BPO/ITES centre at Shillong, Meghalaya under NEBPS.
S10 Healthcare Solutions had been allocated 100 seats to setup BPO/ITES centre at Shillong under NEBPS, which started operations in 2018. The NEBPS scheme was notified by the Ministry of Electronics & Information Technology (MeitY) under the Digital India Programme. Software Technology Parks of India (STPI) is the executing agency of the scheme.
S10 Healthcare Solutions’ Shillong centre provides services such as the Medical Scribe Services and Healthcare Analyst services for US-based healthcare professionals. In a span of less than three years, the centre now employs more than 100 local people where a significant share of employees are women. The right motivation and support from NEBPS along with massive talent pool of the region has aided in the expansion plan of S10 Healthcare Solutions’ operations into the North East.
Through this centre, S10 Healthcare Solutions has also embarked on a social initiative wherein it is providing free soft skills and personality development training to rural youth in villages of Meghalaya and surrounding regions. Titled S10Empower, the initiative encompasses Communication Skills, Personality Development, Public Speaking, Listening Skills, Email Etiquette, Leadership Skills, Interview Skills, Anger Management, Entrepreneurship, Career Development, Public Relations, Social Mission and Socio-Economic Mission. It focuses on rural women and offers placement opportunities for promising trainees for employment with S10. So far, more than 200 people have been trained under the programme. Bolstered by an enthusiastic response, the company is now eyeing expansion into other cities in the North-Eastern states such as Guwahati, Imphal and many more.

Improving connectivity, a spate of recent infrastructural initiatives and focus on exploring synergies with various states have laid the foundation for the IT/ITes ecosystem in the region. Shillong is also an emerging education hub and the high literacy rate of the workforce augurs well for leading corporate to expand into the region.”
Mr. Danny K. Rajee, Head-Business Development, North-East India, S10 Healthcare Solutions, said: “Shillong has tremendous potential to emerge as a leading IT/ITes hub in North-East due to availability of literate talent pool and initiatives by the central and state governments. These factors will play a pivotal role in attracting corporates like us to establish base here. Enthused by the encouraging response of the local population, we have come up with the S10 Empower programme in North-East India to train youth in rural areas of Meghalaya and surrounding states. This initiative will empower trainees, generate employment opportunities in the region and boost the local economy.”
