PM Modi takes tough stand against cow vigilantism; says can’t tolerate violence in cow’s name

At an all-party meeting, Prime Minister Narendra Modi strongly condemned the recent acts of violence perpetrated by cow vigilantes. He said that any act of violence in the name of protecting cows will not be tolerated. PM Modi asked for the support of political parties to help stop this growing menace of cow vigilantism, which has taken many lives till now and injured several people. PM Modi also asked political parties to not give political color to incidents of violence related to protection of cows.

PM Modi urged all state governments to maintain law and order in face of the rising incidences of intolerance. He said that states should take strict action against anyone who breaks the law. PM Modi’s remarks come in the wake of the rising criticism by opposition parties related to the recent cases of cow vigilantism. PM Modi said that certain religious beliefs regard the cow as a mother, but still people should not take law in their hands. He said that such matters need to be tackled through legal channels.

PM Modi also talked about the government’s fight against corruption and said that people involved in corruption will not be spared.
