Rajalakshmi School of Business Launched

22 January, 2015 – The Rajalakshmi Group of Educational Institutions, who have pioneered higher education in Tamil Nadu for the last 17 years , have now embarked upon their most ambitious venture – the launch of a World class B-School in Chennai, in the name and style of “Rajalakshmi School of Business”. The School will offer a two year Post Graduate Diploma Program in Management (PGDM) and will produce management graduates who are experts in Marketing and allied fields. The program is aimed at offering the industry highly qualified and skilled marketing professionals who are trained in a scientific manner, capable of contributing to their company from day one.

Addressing the media, Dr. Mrs. Thangam Meganathan, Chairperson, Rajalakshmi Group of Institutions said, “It has been a very passionate dream of starting a B-School which is on par with any other B-School in the world. With this goal in mind, we started working as earlier as in 2010 and got relevant information from different sources. Experts were handpicked and the building which has been specially designed is bound to become a landmark in the highway it is located.

Dr. Meganathan added that, “from the research done, the findings were very clear, there is a great demand for Management Graduates with a clear focus and understanding of Marketing. Therefore, from the very first day, we have positioned our B-School to be among the best, where industry will look to us for giving them excellent marketers with management education.

She added, “B-Schools should have a strong and organic connect with trade and industry. Even today, many MBA institutes produce graduates who have no grasp of what really happens in industry. Even after two years of studies, many companies spend enormous money and resources to train them to become productive. We feel a minimum of forty per cent of courses must be taught by people who work in the industry and are experts in the chosen field.

 “We are going to offer scholarships to deserving students and are planning to tie up with banks for collateral free student loans. We are conscious that B-schools need to face the reality that bricks and mortar don’t make a good B school, it’s the faculty, the students, the system, the emphasis, methodology and the industry connect which makes the difference.

According to Mr. A. Satish Kumar, a well-known management expert and who is mentoring the course at RSB, “this PGDM-Marketing with its cutting edge curriculum comprising of courses that are taught by very few business schools in India, puts us in a different league. The AICTE approved full time two-year fully residential program is designed to provide the students an in depth knowledge of Marketing. The program is spread across six trimesters, with three trimesters in each academic year and has been designed to optimize the learning outcomes and the ability to apply knowledge into practice through Integrated Management Courses and Labs, General Management Courses and Labs, Core Courses and the most contemporary Electives.

Dr. Subhendu Dey, Director, RSB opined “With the rapidly increasing middle class consumer base having more disposable income than before, India as a market has never been friendlier. This has also created more opportunity by opening up the demand for marketing professionals more than ever before. This is irrespective of the kind of industry or the product it produces or service that it offers.
