Rekha Verma

Rekha Verma is an Indian politician and Member of Parliament (MP) from the Lok Sabha constituency of Dhaurahra in the state of Uttar Pradesh. She is a member of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). The Dhaurahra Lok Sabha constituency is a new constituency that was created in 2008. This constituency was formed as per the recommendations provided by the Delimitation Commission of India. Rekha Verma won Dhaurahra seat in the 2014 Lok Sabha elections. She defeated her nearest rival Daud Ahmad of Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) by a margin of more than 1,20,000 votes.Throughout her political career, Rekha Verma has focused on the welfare of farmers and education of girls. She has also been instrumental in the rehabilitation of people affected by floods in Dhaurahraconstituency.

Early Life and Education

Rekha Verma was born on May 20, 1973 to Shri Devnarayan Katiyar and Smt. Urmila Katiyar. She was born in Kanpur in Uttar Pradesh. She has completed education up to Intermediate level and received education at Bary Inter College, Shivrajpur, Kanpur, U.P. Rekha Verma’s marriage took place on April 30, 1996 to Shri Arun Kumar Verma, but she is now a widow. Her husband had joined BJP in 2013 and was in the process of getting a Lok Sabha ticket, but he died after suffering a heart attack. After her husband’s death, Rekha Verma was chosen by the party to contest from the Dhaurahra seat.
