Rohingya crisis nearing global catastrophe, warns UN

As more than 150,000 Rohingya Muslims have lost their homes and are fleeing their country, the United Nations (UN) has warned that the crisis could soon turn into a global catastrophe. UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres wrote a letter to the U.N.Security Council wherein he said that the Rohingya crisis could soon escalate into a humanitarian catastrophe. It may be recalled that the Rohingya community have been persecuted in their home country Myanmar and other places they have migrated to such as Bangladesh. No country is ready to accept them, since they belong to the poorest of the poor communities in the world. Meanwhile, Myanmar said today that it is in touch with China and Russia to veto any moves by the U.N. Security Council to censure the violence related to Rohingyas.

Myanmar said that the Rohingya terrorists should be blamed for the mass migration of the Rohingya community since these terrorists had recently attacked important police posts and military bases in Myanmar. The Myanmar government said that the Rohingya militants posed a threat to the national security of the country, and it would do everything it can to defend its land. Even experts agreed that Muslim terror is fast spreading and taking place at new locations around the world. Already, Islamist groups in Indonesia are demanding to cut ties with Myanmar, which is a Buddhist-majority country. Rohingya refugees pouring into Bangladesh have nothing with them and there’s huge shortage of food and water.
