SDU Winery is located along the Nandi Valley appellation, which is just 75 km from Bengaluru, the capital of Karnataka and the silicon valley of India. The company shares a passion to create Indian wines that are superior, truly magnificent, and divine. The Deva range of red wines is a result of such passion and the Deva Syrah is made exclusively from Shiraz grapes. The grape variety has been sourced from France and it is grown at SDU Winery’s vineyard in the picturesque Nandi Valley appellation. The term ‘Deva’ signifies divinity and the wine has been named so, as just a sip of the wine will let you experience the ecstasy of life.
Winemaking Style
SDU Winery features state-of-the-art wine making, tasting and testing facilities, which work together to produce top quality Indian wine that is truly world class. The winery focuses on maintaining the original flavors of the grapes and for this, stainless steel tanks and other equipment is used. Oak barrels are also used for fermentation and maturation to give the classic flavors of premium red wine. The company utilizes advanced crusher-destemmer machine that is manufactured by ‘Della Toffola’, a leading Italian brand. The steel tanks used for fermentation come with automatic temperature control, which ensures the fruity flavor of the grapes. Some of the wine is later transferred to French oak casks and kept there for minimum six months for improved maturation and to get a complex range of delightful flavors.The entire process if carefully monitored and all equipment are properly handled in order to produce this magnificent red wine.

SDU Winery is the brainchild of Shaambhavi Hingorani, who shares a great passion for making high-quality wine. Shaambhavi travelled the world far and wide to discover the various secrets and styles of winemaking and later used this knowledge to start her own vineyard in 2003 in the Nandi Valley appellation. Shaambhavi is a pioneer of the boutique winemaking movement and she believes that boutique wineries have the ability to create better flavors and experiment more with the available range. Shaambhavi has perfected the art of winemaking and she is also good at managing everyday business operations.
