Violence in Nagaland: Protesters Burn Government Offices In Kohima

The ongoing violence in Nagaland today worsened as the mob attacked government offices and vandalized them at Kohima. The protesters were opposing the ongoing elections of urban local bodies (ULB).

The mob attacked the buildings of  the state election commission and deputy commissioner’s office. It also vandalized the Kohima Municipal Council building.

The mob also set ablaze the Regional Transport Office and office of the Excise Department. The protesters were also demanding resignation of Chief Minister TR Zeliang.

The army has been deployed to control the protests. Nagaland DGP L. L. Doungel has claimed that situation is under control, however reports suggest that five army coulumns have been deployed at Kohima.
Urban local body polls (ULB) claimed that they will continue to protest until the CM with his cabinet resigns.
